Sackville Council Meeting- May, 2010
Toronto Argonauts running back Andre Durie and defensive tackle Etienne Legare will be making an appearance in Sackville this month in honor of their participation in Sackville Minor Football
Association’s spring camps.
Along with the professional football players, local certified coaches will work with Mount Allison’s football coach Kelly Jeffrey to provide football skills to about seventy boys and girls from all levels of football, from minor to high school and university. SMFA encourages youth of all skill levels to register for the local camps. Equipment is provided free except for footwear and mouth guards.
Councilor Merrill Fullerton, who will be attending the welcome reception for the Argonauts, is enthusiastic about the town’s partnership with Leadership Mount Allison, the group that initiated this program and whose mandate is to foster leadership skills in students.
Wray Perkin, a second year Mount Allison student and organizer of Leadership Mount Allison, has requested that the town of Sackville share in the nominal cost of hosting the event on May 11th .
Council agreed to support the event. Said Fullerton, “We support minor football, but it is also a good opportunity to raise our profile and partner with Mount Allison”.

Residents of Sackville and the surrounding area are encouraged to vote for the Bay of Fundy as one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
Sackville council agreed to promote the competition with Councilor Virgil Hammock adding that The Bay of Fundy was already a finalist in the competition. “The Bay of Fundy is competing with the Grand Canyon, so that is pretty good, but we should encourage people in the community to vote”.
Council agreed to create an active link to the competition on Sackville’s official website that will lead directly to http://www.new7wonders.com.
